EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL ‘PODERE IL MONTALEO’
Our first blend from 2009 and still produced on our farm. It is a blend of all our cultivars with a fresh and balanced flavor and hints of artichoke and tomato leaves. Since 2012, this blend has been consecutively listed in the ‘Slow Food’ Guide of extra virgin olive oils. Compared to other Tuscan oils it has a very delicate taste. Its excellent balance can accompany both seafood and meat dishes that prefer a less strong kind of oil.
PODERE IL MONTALEO ‘LAZZERO’ MONOCULTIVAR EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
From 2010 we started to produce the Lazzero Monocultivar.
The Lazzero olive tree, typical of this area of the ‘Val di Cecina’ has a stronger flavor compared to the Podere Il Montaleo blend, and has been classified as medium intense.
In order to fully exploit its qualities and obtain the best taste and aroma, the harvest takes place earlier than the other varieties.
Its aroma is ample and enveloping, rich in fruity hints of unripe tomato, white apple banana and aromatic notes of basil, mint and parsley. On the palate it is elegant and distinctive with a taste of field lettuce and celery.
The bitter, strong and spicy taste of this oil makes it ideal for dishes with spelt, salmon, baked potatoes, soups, grilled fish and fresh cheeses.
This extra virgin olive oil, since 2015 is mentioned in the “Flos Olei top 500” guide published by Marco Oreggia.
